When Abby was just a little girl, a beloved local realtor approached her dad in his shop one day and posed a question that would change the course of their lives: How would the Tait family like to live on Mobile Bay?
Abby and her dad ventured to see the house, and from the moment they stepped inside, they felt it—a sense of belonging that whispered through the long, sprawling hallway. Abby's eyes lit up at the sight of the floor-to-ceiling French doors, inviting the sunlight to dance across the hardwood floors. She was enchanted by the mossy trees and the salty breeze that caressed the wrap-around porch. On the ride home from viewing the house, she even offered up all the money in her piggy bank to help secure it. While her $15 contribution may not have made a dent in the closing costs, the Tait family moved in later that summer.
Since that fateful day when Abby was just seven years old, many years have slipped by, and many moons have risen and set over Mobile Bay. Sunday suppers became a cherished tradition, marked by etiquette guides and life lessons imparted by Abby's parents. From Braxton's 25th birthday bash to Bay Days and impromptu parties, this house has been witness to the milestones and mundane moments that define a family's story.
The rich history of the home has always fascinated Abby and Braxton, listening to tales of gatherings a hundred years ago and feeling the deep connection to the home's past whenever they're here.
Over the last century, this home has been the backdrop for countless events and parties, each leaving its mark on the house's story. Yet, there's a sense that none have quite matched the significance of what's to come on November 2nd.
As we eagerly prepare to embark on this new chapter of our lives together, we are reminded that home is not always a place—it's a feeling. It's the comforting embrace of family who have watched us grow and supported us every step of the way. It's the inside jokes and wild escapades shared with high school and early adulthood friends - the kind of memories that make us laugh until we cry. It's the nostalgia and familiarity of childhood friends who have known us since the beginning and have never wavered. It's the sense of community and belonging with neighbors, teachers, and other mentors who have welcomed us with open arms. Home is the collective warmth and love of all the diverse relationships we cherish.
As we build our life together, we pray that we will always carry the sense of 'home' that each of you have given to us, and that we let it serve as a reminder the love and support we are blessed with.
Thank you for being a part of our story and for supporting us in every way possible.
We warmly invite you to join us down the bay on November 2, 2024, and look forward to celebrating with you then!
Cheers,
Abby & Braxton
